A few minutes before Hallowe'en, 2006:
Emo mustiness isn't me anymore, but neither is mint chocolate. Sem break may have been busy, but it wasn't school and therefore more than enough to leave me recharged. Thanks to [info]boyspacefriend for finding the color scheme, although traces of the last palette still remain. I'm still about snoozing, after all.

I'm not screening this LJ; I don't think my life is interesting enough for it. Anything important never gets addressed in this kind of forum anyway, at least by me.

I'm currently

just chilling.

It's summer, and the upcoming school year is going to be hell. So was the one that just ended. Right now, I just want to take a break.

Because this is too stupid not to share -- [Nov. 6th, 2008|09:28 am]
Multiply won't let me change my profile picture to one I want -- because "no ads are allowed".

I mean, I'm flattered, but SERIOUSLY? Waz. :(

I'm celebrating no school by.. answering another survey!

I still should go to UP if only to pick up readings, and we might have a meeting - but who cares. Whoohoo for living the bum's life.

I really have no excuse for failing everything next week now, but meh.

survey here )

Because I was cleaning out my RSS feeds... [Apr. 28th, 2007|12:46 pm]
Thought a lot of you would be interested. I found this before he passed away, but forgot about it. Oh, and I'm in Canada.

Kurt Vonnegut

Eight rules for writing fiction:

1. Use the time of a total stranger in such a way that he or she will not feel the time was wasted.

2. Give the reader at least one character he or she can root for.

3. Every character should want something, even if it is only a glass of water.

4. Every sentence must do one of two things -- reveal character or advance the action.

5. Start as close to the end as possible.

6. Be a sadist. Now matter how sweet and innocent your leading characters, make awful things happen to them -- in order that the reader may see what they are made of.

7. Write to please just one person. If you open a window and make love to the world, so to speak, your story will get pneumonia.

8. Give your readers as much information as possible as soon as possible. To heck with suspense. Readers should have such complete understanding of what is going on, where and why, that they could finish the story themselves, should cockroaches eat the last few pages.

-- Vonnegut, Kurt Vonnegut, Bagombo Snuff Box: Uncollected Short Fiction (New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons 1999), 9-10.

for all the macheads out there... [Feb. 17th, 2007|11:19 am]
[mood | aliw]

Public service announcement.

Download Aurora now, if you need any kind of alarm clock at all. I love it. ^^ It can power up your mac, fade any playlist or podcast you want in, snooze if you whack the keyboard, create recurring alarms that skip days (for those delightful midweek holidays), etc etc. Read the help file for all the juicy details.

I don't usually do this (I think), but seriously. We all need something to make mornings a bit more bearable, yeah?

The team rin. BEST LAUNCH EVER. I have no words.. brilliant. Grace under pressure talaga. There were times I didn't think this, but in the end it was so worth everything.

Just had to share this site, for all the art junkies (or just those that like prettified things) out there. Cess, Kath, Crispy, Mia... you guys especially come to mind. Love it.

edit: one more site, or maybe two. this one's about disney (David Beckham as Prince Charming - I mean, seriously, click. Beyonce as Alice, too.) This one's a little edgier, but gorgeous advertisements etc. Design Chapel. Lastly, flatpack toys for those handy friends out there. I know there;s a lot, but they're all worth it. Thanks to phirebrush for all the links. ('tis <3, really.)

so what's been happening, pretty baby? [Feb. 1st, 2007|06:20 pm]
[mood | blank]

It's truly amazing, these new forms of protest. Or old forms of protest, new (or just odd?) things.

Tens of thousands of Mexicans join a march in Mexico City to protest against the rising price of tortillas.

A Canadian town council issues new rules to immigrants telling them not to stone or burn women.

The last's from Maita Sayo. This made me laugh, so read and watch: So today I heard a story about a bunch of people who organized a gay pride march in a virtual game (pardon me, I don't know the terminology) in order to protest the homophobic and misogynist characters in online games like warcraft and second life.

Queer ogres?
